England midfielder Kalvin Phillips has caught the eye of ex-Man United striker, Dimitar Berbatov.
Manchester United Football Club have added Jadon Sancho to the playing squad, though you get the feeling the Old Trafford side are still a couple of major signings away from competing.

While writing his column for Betfair, ex-United striker Berbatov was discussing all things England – including the prospect of his former club signing a certain Leeds United midfielder.
Kalvin Phillips has been brilliant for the Three Lions. So-much-so that the 25-year-old midfielder has been urged by Berba to sign for the Reds after his brilliant EURO 2020.
“Kalvin Phillips stood out again too. He’s been one of the players of the tournament and, sooner or later, I expect him to leave Leeds for a bigger club.” Berbatov told Betfair.
“Offers will come in for him after tournament. He is playing with maturity, agility, knowing when to run with the ball and when to pass. I would like to see him sign for Manchester United.”
I think it goes without saying, Phillips could immediately challenge for that starting job if he were signed, although Scott McTominay will probably have something to say about that.
Now we need to address the elephant in the room. Would Leeds United ever sell one of their best players to Manchester United? Well, it has happened before, but Phillips himself is Leeds through and through. I would be extremely surprised if he himself would want this move.
He’d also cost a pretty penny if there was any chance this deal could be agreed. The Englishman has a few years left on his contract, while all reports indicate that Phillips wants to remain with his boyhood club. You absolutely have to respect that stance at this point in time.
As of right now, I’d be extremely surprised if this transfer materialises. Perhaps we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the 2021/22 season and potentially revisit the move in twelve months’ time.
