Kevin de Bruyne picks two Manchester United players in his Team of the Year

Look, they’ll be no beating around the bush from me. Kevin de Bruyne is a wonderful footballer, and probably should be named PFA Player of the Year this term.

Anyway, that’s enough praise for Manchester City for one lifetime… Jokes aside, the brilliant Belgian has submitted his Team of the Year according to The Metro, and to my surprise, the former Chelsea man has named two Manchester United players within his XI.

There are no prizes for guessing the first Red Devil included; David de Gea. The Spaniard has been in sensational form yet again this term, saving our bacon on more than one occasion with some truly sublime saves. Honestly, the sooner we get this lad tied down to a huge, big-money deal the better, because we seriously need him if we’re to challenge for top-level trophies.

The second came somewhat as a shock. De Bruyne has opted for Antonio Valencia in the right-back slot. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of the Ecuadorian’s, but I’m not sure he’s been the best right-back in the country this season. On too many occasions he’s sitting far too deep when his teammates are on the attack, although that may just be me being far too critical of the former Wigan man.
