David de Gea has admitted his aim is to become the best goalkeeper in the world, whilst speaking to the media ahead of Manchester United’s game against FC Basel. The Spaniard was sitting alongside manager Jose Mourinho during the pre-match press conference.
The Manchester United #1 made a shaky start to life at the Theatre of Dreams if you cast your mind back, but over the last four or five years, he has grown and grown as a player, and right now, he’s the best in the business if you ask me.

This is a guy who has adapted to the rigours of Premier League football, whilst never letting himself get defeated and opting for a move back to Spain. On top of that, he’s stayed loyal to the Red Devils amidst plenty of links to Real Madrid over the years.
You just have to admire him and his ambition, but if I’m being honest (and probably a little bit biased), I’d say he’s already the best in the business at what he does. Some of the saves he makes are truly remarkable, and now the command he has of his area is equally good. I just hope we can continue to call him one of our own for the next five years.
