Manchester United has all-but sealed safe progression through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. Jose Mourinho’s men are four from four in their group, and a point against FC Basel will confirm their status as group winners.
Ahead of that game, though, the Red Devils look likely to be without three players – who didn’t train at United’s Carrington complex ahead of flying out to Switzerland.
According to BBC journalist Simon Stone, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Michael Carrick were all missing, which is an obvious cause for concern.

Jones and Bailly began to form an excellent centre-back pairing before the duo were stuck with injury issues, and who knows how long they’ll be missing for. Carrick has been a bit-part player at best this term, but I guess that was to be expected due to his age. However, this type of game would have been perfect for the veteran midfielder.
We’re approaching the busy winter schedule now, and this is the time where we need as many bodies as physically possibly who are fit and ready to play. Defensively, we’re looking quite thin at the moment, so the quicker both Bailly and Jones are back, the better.
