Keylor Navas tried to push Man Utd move through AFTER De Gea deal collapsed

Manchester United and Real Madrid were embroiled in one of the transfer sagas of the summer over the Spaniard David de Gea, and when it looked as though the move was finally going to go through, the deal could not be completed in time.

Part of that deal was going to see Keylor Navas move to Manchester United. According to The Mirror, the Costa Rican goalkeeper tried to force through a move to Old Trafford the day after David de Gea’s move to Madrid failed.

With Spain’s transfer window closed and England’s still open, the move could have gone through if both parties agreed to a fee. However at that point it was highly unlikely that Real Madrid would sell Navas as it’d leave them extremely light in the goalkeeper spot.

The 28-year old was left so ‘disgusted and disillusioned’ with the situation and the fact that Real Madrid were prepared to drop him at the first opportunity certainly backs that up.

He’ll now have to knuckle down and give the Bernabeu side at least one more season, but you can understand Navas’ frustration at the whole situation.
