Ex-Manchester United coach, Kieran McKenna, is being considered as a possible candidate for the manager’s job if Erik ten Hag is let go.
Manchester United Football Club have a large decision to make this summer, in regard to their manager, Erik ten Hag. The Dutch boss has been hit and miss during his second campaign as Reds gaffer, leaving INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe with a choice.
I’m still in the camp of sticking with Ten Hag, though I would totally understand the rationale behind sacking the former Ajax manager. The performances have been inconsistent all campaign long. While I understand he’s had injury issues to contend with, we cannot use it as an excuse.

According to the information, United are ‘big admirers’ of the 37-year-old manager, who is now emerging as a ‘strong contender’ to be their next boss.
A well-placed source has been ‘hugely impressed’ with Ipswich Town, with United’s interest in McKenna said to be ‘concrete’.
McKenna and his Ipswich Town side could earn back-to-back promotions, assuming they remain in the automatic promotion places in the Championship. That alone is testament to his excellent man management, tactical flexibility and sheer work ethic.
The fact that he is being dubbed a ‘future’ United manager says a lot about his talent as a budding boss. You have to doff your cap to McKenna for a job well done at Ipswich Town.
However, for me, it feels a little too soon to be having these conversations. It’d make sense to let McKenna continue to develop and grow. Perhaps another season with Ipswich Town would make the most sense right now – though you couldn’t fault him for jumping at the opportunity to manage United if it arises.
