Kieran Trippier admits he wants England stay amid Man United links

Last week, we covered a story from the Daily Mail which claimed that Manchester United were ‘monitoring’ Kieran Trippier.

The 28-year-old has endured a forgettable season for Tottenham Hotspur, with the right-back seemingly set to be sold by the North London side this summer.

As for the Red Devils, they desperately need to bring in a new right-sided defender as they’re looking to upgrade on Ashley Young going into the 2019/20 campaign.

With rumours about his future swirling, Trippier was asked the question about where he’d prefer to play his football next year. The bury-Born defender was pretty stern in his response, admitting that he’d like to play in England.

“I want to stay in England but what can you do?” Trippier told reporters, including the BBC.

“I’ll see what happens and what the club wants, most importantly.”

As Trippier claims, it’ll all be down to what Spurs want – most likely who comes up with the best offer for his services.

Personally, I feel as though the right-back has gotten a rough ride over the last year and his confidence is low which hasn’t helped matters.

That does’t take away from what an excellent player he is, though, and it’s easy to forget just how brilliant he was for England at the World Cup just twelve months ago.

If the price is right then I wouldn’t bet against United making a move for the Three Lions international – and the fact that he has that all-important Premier League experience definitely helps.
