Kieran Trippier expects Man United move to materialise late in transfer window: report

Kieran Trippier remains hopeful a move to Man United will happen this summer – though he’ll have to remain patient.

After signing both Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, Manchester United’s squad is nicely taking shape.

However, there’s still much work ahead for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. If I’m being picky, a new midfielder and right-back will still be added – though it looks like the Reds will now have to sell before they buy.

It’s easy to forget money is still tight in these COVID-19 times, while this United squad is looking pretty jam-packed at the moment.

Kieran Trippier is a name that has been linked with an Old Trafford move this summer, though the Bury-born full-back will be made to wait.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 30-year-old ‘expects’ his potential transfer to Man United to materialise late on in the summer window.

That’s because emphasis is now being placed on selling a few players before further additions are made. Trippier apparently wants to join the club he supported as a boy, having already arranged for his family to relocate to Manchester.

Members of Trippier’s family have spoken confidently about their feelings of a United move happening, though the Reds will have to make space for the former Tottenham Hotspur man first.

With Trippier’s contract winding down, that could play into United’s hands. Atletico Madrid have a decision to make; either sell him now or risk losing him for free in twelve months time.

It’s written that United interest in Trippier stems from Red’s coaches being unhappy with Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s attacking output. Obviously, Trippier is far better in that regard, while his experience would also be another benefit to this young squad.

I’d like to think that if United can shift on Diogo Dalot, Jesse Lingard and maybe even Anthony Martial, they’ll be enough money in the bank to bring in Trippier.
