Kieran Trippier is keen on a move to Manchester United this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seemingly looking to add some competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the right-back slot.
Kieran Trippier is the name that’s most linked with Manchester United. Now, The Sun on Sunday have a pretty important update for us.
Apparently, the Atletico Madrid star has told his international teammates he wants a move to Man United this summer. Furthermore, the Reds are considering a swoop as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for a Premier League title.
Solskjaer believes Wan-Bissaka is the ‘ideal player’ to challenge Wan-Bissaka for a starting job, similarly to how Alex Telles pushed Luke Shaw to that next level.
Understandably, Atletico would like to keep Trippier around as he was a key part of their La Liga title-winning side. However, United believe they can persuade the Spanish team to sell for around £15-20million.
Trippier is from Bury and he comes from a family of United supporters. At this stage in his career, you get the impression this would be the perfect move for the 30-year-old.
Where better to finish your career than in your homeland, playing for the club who you supported as a lad.
From a United standpoint, this does seem like a shrewd piece of business. Trippier offers something different to Wan-Bissaka and it’s always nice to have someone who can cross a ball as well as he can.
Obviously, this wouldn’t be the marquee signing that United fans desire, though there’d be still plenty of money left in the coffer if the reported fees above turn out to be true.
