A Man United move to sign Napoli centre-back, Kim Min-jae, has picked up in pace this weekend.

Manchester United may well be in the market for a new centre-back this summer, with the Red Devils heavily linked with a move to sign Napoli’s Kim Min-jae.

Over the last 24 hours, those rumours have only increased. Sport Witness provided the latest information, trawling through Italian media, namely, Naples-based Il Mattino.

They go pretty big, claiming that intermediaries have convinced Min-jae to move to United, with the signing of the 26-year-old now just a ‘matter of details’.

Somewhat interestingly, it’s claimed by the same report, that United are also trying to convince Victor Osimhen to make a move to Manchester.

Min-jae has been super impressive all season long, playing his part in a title-winning Napoli team that deserve a tonne of credit.

The man from South Korea has a relatively low release clause of around £40m in his current contract, which can be activated this July. United could do far worse than signing Min-jae, who’d improve almost every team in world football.

Competition for his signature could be one potential issue, with several clubs no doubt keen on bringing him in. The aforementioned release clause certainly makes it easier.

Finishing in the top four is an absolute must, too. Min-jae will likely have his pick of numerous clubs, so having Champions League football on offer could prove to be a deal sweetener.

Any move may also be dependent on United selling before they can buy. Who knows who’ll be club owners come the end of the summer? Who knows what sort of budget Ten Hag will have at his disposal? Is spending big on a thrid-choice centre-back really the way to go?
