Man United will not be able to call upon the services of Kobbie Mainoo against West Ham United this afternoon.
Just when you think Manchester United are turning a corner on the injury front, another blow swiftly follows. It has been a tough time for Erik ten Hag this season, with those problems not letting up anytime soon.
Yesterday, we’d learn that Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro won’t be available for about another month, today, the Red Devils will have to cope without their man of the moment; Kobbie Mainoo.
During his pre-match presser, the gaffer did state that he has one or two concerns going into this game, without giving any names away.
However, social media is awash with rumours suggesting that it’s Kobbie Mainoo who has dealt United a late fitness blow, with the key starlet absent for this game down in London. The story seems to start with the usually reliable Jamie Jackson, who wrote about the news in his most recent Guardian article.
Mainoo had become an important part in the Red Devils midfield, once again proving his worth at Anfield last weekend. Losing him for any prolonged period of time would be a huge blow at this stage of the season, though I’d imagine it’s only a minor concern for the talented midfielder.
This does present more opportunity for the likes of Sofyan Amrabat and Scott McTominay. Both have blown hot and cold this season, so it’s hard to gauge what sort of performance we’re going to get in the middle of the park.
Let’s hope the lads can play well enough to bring home what would be a massive three points.
Come on lads!
