After beginning contract talks back in March, Kobbie Mainoo appears to now be closing in on a new Man United deal.
It became evident that Manchester United Football Club had unearthed an absolute gem of a footballer in Kobbie Mainoo pretty early on. The young midfielder did not take long at all to settle into the Red Devils first-team, with some incredibly mature performances.
Mainoo single-handedly transformed a struggling midfield into one of decent quality as soon as he walked into the side.
Since the turn of the year, talks have been rife about Mainoo being given a new deal. After all, United have always preferred to pay their players early rather than late. It’s a mantra that has worked more often than not.
Now, the Manchester Evening News have provided an update on Mainoo’s future. They state that the United academy star is now ‘close’ to signing a new Reds contract.
Talks started in March after it was recognised Mainoo became a vital player within that dressing room and after over six months of negotiations it seems like a breakthrough is now close.
There has been no rush over the situation, with both parties very relaxed about Mainoo’s future.
Now, a new deal, that will include a wage increase, is almost signed and sealed.
Mainoo’s rise over the last year has been nothing short of remarkable and if anyone deserves this increase, it’s him. The Englishman has immediately turned into one of the most important players for both club and country. He genuinely deserves to be rewarded for that.
United are also ensuring that their star remains happy. The last thing you want to do is upset someone who has become a vital player both domestically and internationally.
