Back in January Chelsea agreed a £12million fee for highly rated French centre-back Kurt Zouma who played his football at Saint-Etienne, and came through the youth ranks there. Eventually, a European giant were to come calling, and Chelsea won the race for his signature.
The move was agreed, and he officially became a Chelsea player in the mid-season transfer window earlier in the year, however he was loaned back to Saint-Etienne until the end of the season.
Now, Zouma has claimed there were other offers on the table, including an approach from Manchester United.
“I really wanted to go to Chelsea. Did I have other offers? Yes, there were Internazionale, Monaco and Manchester United. All those clubs called.” he said.
Perhaps United knew that Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic were both going to be off in the summer, so they made a late approach for Zouma. Sadly the deal didn’t come off though.
Kurt Zouma is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Ligue 1 and world football. The 19-year old centre-back has caps for every international level, except the full France team.
