Manchester United’s squad is definitely heading in the right direction under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Red Devils clearing out the dead-wood while making some astute signings.
Further money has to be spent over the summer, though, with the Baby Faced Assassin continuing to mould this squad into one that fits his image.
One name that has often been linked with an Old Trafford move is James Maddison. We’ve been covering that story pretty extensively for the last six months at the very least.
Well, today United have been given some huge news. It comes from the Manchester Evening News, who states that the 23-year-old Leicester City attacker wants to join United.
Maddison has been ‘earmarked’ as United’s ‘prime playmaker target’ and MEN sources have told the club he ‘would have been at United a year ago’ if it were up to him…
It’s mostly all positive, except for the fact Maddison is set to cost more than £80million – the fee which United paid for Maddison’s former teammate Harry Maguire just last summer.
Another potential stumbling block could be surrounding Champions League football. United are outsiders to force their way into the top-four right now, while Leicester are right in amongst it. Plus, there’s also talk of a new contract with The Foxes which could further complicate things…
