Leicester will not stand in Maguire’s way amid Man United interest: report

Earlier today, we covered a story from the Daily Mirror, in which it was claimed that Harry Maguire has told Leicester City he wants to leave – while having his sights set on a move to Manchester United.

Shortly after, the Mail on Sunday went one further. They back up the earlier claim, confirming Maguire has told Brendan Rodgers he wants out, but they also say Leicester will not block his exit.

The 26-year-old told the Foxes manager he wants to leave during a training session in Evian, France, and understandably, Leicester were reluctant to sell until Maguire made his intentions clear. Now that has been done, it is ‘believed they (Leicester) will not stand in his way…

With two pretty reliable sources coming out and stating similar within a short space of time, you really do get the impression that there is something in this transfer rumour. For me, Maguire is almost begging United to come back with an improved offer and get the deal done.

I’ve said it time and time again during this window, but Maguire would improve our team massively. He’s a top-class defender with Premier League experience, and he could also be that on-field leader this United time desperately need.

I just hope that a deal is done sooner rather than later, giving Maguire ample time to get to know his new teammates before the Premier League season starts next month.
