Leny Yoro is set to become the second major signing of the INEOS era, with the formalisation of the deal expected today.
Manchester United were always going to sign at least one central defender this summer, as Erik ten Hag looks to reinforce an area of the field that had no consistency at all last term.
The Old Trafford side lost Raphael Varane, while the futures of both Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are far from secure, so do not rule out two acquisitions in this area of the field.
Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs de Ligt were the initial frontrunners, though out of nowhere, a move to acquire Leny Yoro has come to the fore. The French starlet had an exceptional 2023/24 season.
I, like many, just assumed Yoro was destined for Real Madrid. However, United never gave up hope and they’re now closing in on this unreal signing.
Journalist Santi Aouna has provided an update on that front this morning. He has claimed that Yoro’s medical is now complete.
The player is set to sign on the dotted line today, before finalising his transfer to the Old Trafford club. Everything could be announced at some point today.

Credit to INEOS and United, who haven’t messed around here. They’ve identified their man, booked his medical and flew him into Manchester as quickly as possible so he can have no second thoughts about moving elsewhere.
It’s superb to see United acting like a big club once again. Yoro is set to become the second major signing behind Joshua Zirkzee, as Ten Hag continues to strengthen this playing squad.
Yes, there’s a very real possibility Yoro will move to Real Madrid in future, but at least we get to enjoy him for a few years first.
