Leny Yoro flying to UK in order to complete Man United medical after transfer fee reached

Man United appear to be closing in on the signature of Leny Yoro from Lille.

Manchester United have to sign a centre-half of genuine quality this summer. The Old Trafford side need to replace Raphael Varane’s minutes with a top class player who can play week-in-week-out.

Three names have been linked with filling the void; Jarrad Branthwaite, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.

It always felt like Yoro was the one Erik ten Hag really wanted, though chances of completing a deal looked slim due to Real Madrid’s interest.

Well, The Athletic‘s David Ornstein has provided a massive update on that front, claiming that Yoro is now travelling to the UK for his United medical. A £52m bid has been accepted by Lille for the French defender, as the Reds are now said to be ‘close’ to completing their second major signing of the summer.

There is still work to be done on this front, as personal terms are yet to be agreed. There’s also a chance Real Madrid could make a late move to sign the mega-talented teenager.

Yoro is among the most talented footballers in the world right now. He has an extremely high ceiling and it’s hard not to be excited about pulling this move off – particularly as the Reds have had to beat out tough competition to get it done.

What’s also nice is watching United act like a big club again. For far too long, the Red Devils have allowed players and agents to dictate the situation. Under INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, that does not appear to be the case.

United are acting swiftly in the transfer market and getting these deals done nice and early. You’d like to think that Yoro will now play some part in pre-season, assuming his medical all goes well and Real Madrid stay out of the fold.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Leny Yoro makes sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
