Manchester United have always developed youth and promoted from within – it’s what makes the club so special.
One such player who is loving life at the moment is Jesse Lingard. The Warrington-born-winger has been a pivotal member of the United squad over the last few years; due to his brilliant movement, energy and pace.
Many forget that it was Louis van Gaal who gave him his big opportunity in football, although his debut was cut short as he picked up a serious injury.
It was also quite fitting that Lingard scored the winner in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace; Van Gaal’s only major trophy as Red Devils boss.
After he Iron Tulip announced his retirement, it didn’t take Lingard long to get on social media and send a great message of thanks to his former boss.
Moments like these are precious. Who knows where Lingard would be now if it wasn’t for Van Gaal?
He’s a player who understands what it takes to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world and we’re seriously lucky to have him. Lingard’s such a classy guy both on and off the field and what’s most important is the fact that he plays football to have fun.
It’s nice to see him pay his respects to one of the best to ever sit in the dugout, and the game will certainly miss Mr. Van Gaal.
