Lisandro Martinez has confirmed his surgery went well. He’s now working hard to get back out on the field.
Last Thursday was brutal for Manchester United Football Club. The Reds would throw away a two-goal lead, while losing both of their first-choice centre-halves to injury.
Raphael Varane is out for a few weeks, whereas Lisandro Martinez’s season is sadly over. The Butcher couldn’t walk off the field on his own accord, he’d then leave the stadium on crutches due to a metatarsal problem.
Thankfully, the club and player have managed to get his surgery done quickly. The key United star took to Twitter overnight to confirm that his surgery went well and he’s now focusing on his recovery.

Obviously, it’s a massive blow to lose our most important defender. Martinez has always played in the big matches when fit – proving himself as a valuable asset on a game-by-game basis.
The remaining fixtures will be much tougher without Licha, who is now working hard to get himself fit for the start of next season.
Metatarsal injuries can take months to recover from. United are about three months away from their pre-season tour over in the United States. Let’s hope the Argentine is fit enough to travel with the squad and at least play some part in those friendly games.
It does help that Licha is a tough lad. He will not let this injury get the better of him. He will be working hard on his rehab in order to get himself back out on that field as soon as possible. You can see how much this club means to him – and that’s just another reason why we fans love him so much.
Get well soon, Licha!
