Lisandro Martinez injury fears allayed after Arsenal win

Man United’s concerns over Lisandro Martinez’s injury have already been eased.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have played some lovely football over the last fortnight. Long may that continue.

Credit where it’s due, the Red Devils look like a confident bunch of players, thriving in a system that’s perfectly designed by their Dutch leader. We have to remember that the process has only just begun, so ensuring the lads stay grounded is probably Ten Hag’s biggest task.

It’s no surprise that the signings Ten Hag has made are at the forefront of the success. None more so than centre-back Lisandro Martinez. Which is why we were all concerned when he limped off the pitch during the dying embers of the game on Sunday.

Well, United have quickly been given a positive injury update, with those fears allayed over the key star – whose problem isn’t serious.

It was journalist Gaston Edul with the update, claiming that Martinez was taken off as a precaution as he had a minor issue with his adductor.

When he hobbled off the pitch, we were all at least a little bit concerned. After all, this man has been absolutely spectacular at the back alongside Raphael Varane.

What I love most about Martinez is that he’s already silencing doubters. I get it, the media were quick to pile on after the Argentine struggled against Brentford. However, the 24-year-old has been absolutely flawless since.

He’s forming a real bond at the back with Varane. With each passing game, it’s becoming tougher and tougher for Harry Maguire to force his way back into this starting line-up.

No doubt Martinez will likely be rested in midweek, as we’re going to need him for the Crystal Palace game on Sunday.
