In a bizarre situation, Lisandro Martinez has been left stranded from Argentina international duty due to visa issues.
Manchester United Football Club have definitely been on the up over the last few weeks. The Old Trafford club have improved under Erik ten Hag, with his new signings at the forefront of recent victories.
Perhaps the biggest plus has been the form of defender, Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine international struggled against Brentford, but has since bounced back in emphatic fashion, looking flawless in every match since.
Well, the 24-year-old was supposed to jet off to Miami to play for his country over the next week or so. However, in an odd story, The Mirror, who got the scoop from TyC Sports, are reporting that the United star has been ‘left stranded’ from international duty.
The problems come ahead of two Argentina friendlies, with the issues arising in the wake of HM Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
Martinez was due to head to the States in the early hours of Saturday morning, though he’s still not been able to travel. A problem shared by fellow Premier League Argentine, Christian Romero.
Apparently, the US Embassy in England has been closed, meaning the pair have not been able to get their visas in time. Whether the Embassy is now open remains to be seen.
As things stand, it’s unclear as to whether Argentina will press on without the Premier League duo for their game against Honduras, though you’d imagine there’s a genuine possibility that other players are called up instead.
If that does happen, it’d be to United’s benefit. At the end of the day, it’d mean more rest for Martinez ahead of a huge game against Manchester City in early October.
