Lisandro Martinez was not risked for Argentina last night, as he continues to deal with a foot issue.

Manchester United’s injury problems are well documented. Erik ten Hag is working with one hand tied behind his back at present as so many first-teamers are dealing with issues.

It started in pre-season and with each passing game, it feels like our players are dropping like flies. The latest to go down was Lisandro Martinez. Initially, the severity of the issue was brushed off by the media. Photos of him in training seemed to back that up.

However, his international manager, Lionel Scaloni, has admitted that the United man is still dealing with a foot issue. As a result, he was not risked for Argentina, vs Ecuador, last night.

Scaloni went on to say that he’ll continue to evaluate Martinez, while the centre-back could potentially feature in Argentina’s second match of this international break.

Check out what Lionel Scaloni said in full here:

“Licha, as you know, had an issue with his feet,” Scaloni said, ahead of the Ecuador clash, per ManUtd.com. “In the last game [at Arsenal], he was in pain and went out for precaution. They have done studies and he’s well.

“We’ll evaluate whether to use him or not,” admitted the former West Ham United defender. “At first, for tomorrow’s match, it’d be a little rushed. We’ll see for the second match.”

United just cannot catch a break at the moment. Martinez is just another example of that. Perhaps it’s more than just bad luck. Maybe something is taking place in training and out on the field that’s contributing because at this point, it feels like the whole world is out for United in terms of injuries…

Martinez being fit and available is absolutely necessary if United are to have any success this season. This is the second time he has picked up a niggle already. It’d be wrong if we wasn’t at least a little bit concerned about it.

Let’s just hope Argentina give him all the time he needs to get back to 100%, because the last thing we’d need is to make this problem worse ahead of the Brighton game in a week’s time.

Do you think Lisandro Martinez will be fit to play vs Brighton in a week or so? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
