Lisandro Martinez has been pulled from Ajax training, as he prepares to transfer to Man United.
Manchester United’s move for Lisandro Martinez is now progressing very quickly. We covered a claim from Fabrizio Romano literally less than a couple of hours ago.
Now, Romano is back at it again, with some help from @MikeVerweij, with even more information in regards to United’s pursuit of the Argentine Martinez.
Apparently, the player is not training with Ajax today as his proposed move to United nears. Apparently, the Reds are prepared to complete the signing ‘very soon’.
It’s now only a matter of time before the deal is done, with United ‘convinced’ that Martinez will join the club this summer.
As with any new signing, the excitement is now starting to build. Erik ten Hag quickly identified a new centre-back as a top priority and finally, it looks as though United’s new Dutch manager is going to get his wish.
Martinez, voted Ajax’s Player of the Year in 2021/22, had a super impressive campaign, helping his side to an Eredivisie title.
In terms of his best attributes, Martinez is great with the ball at his feet and a supremely well-rounded defender. Tough in the tackle, a great reader of the game and positionally excellent. All of which have to be nigh-on perfect given he stands only 5ft 9in tall.
You’d expect the fee to total somewhere between the £40-50m mark which is a hefty chunk of the budget. However, if the Reds can get this deal done, bring in Christian Eriksen on a free transfer and spend big on Frenkie de Jong, that’d represent an excellent transfer window for the Old Trafford club.
