Lisandro Martinez has been spotted in Manchester, as his move to United is set to become official.
It has been over a week now since Manchester United confirmed they’d agreed a deal to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.
The centre-back, who was Ajax’s Player of the Year under Erik ten Hag, follows the Dutch manager to Old Trafford.
Somewhat weirdly, all went quiet on the Martinez front. We’re yet to see an official unveiling of the Argentine wearing his new shirt. Perhaps there has been some hold-ups behind the scenes, though I fully expect this confirmation to come shortly.
Well, Martinez is here in rainy Manchester, with the Daily Mail getting some photos of the centre-half enjoying a meal at Don Giovanni. They also report the former Ajax man is staying at the Lowry Hotel.

Hopefully, we’re not made to wait too much longer before the Martinez deal is official.
Obviously, there are only two pre-season games left. Both take place this weekend. And no doubt Erik ten Hag wants to get some minutes in the tank for both Martinez and Christian Eriksen in those games. That cannot happen until the deal is 100% finalised.
When you spend £55m on a player, the expectancy level is pretty high. From a personal standpoint, I just want to see what Martinez looks like in this Ten Hag system. Obviously, he’s going to need time to fully adjust and we’re not going to see his maximum level in the early days, though the ability is obviously there.
For what it’s worth, I still reckon Martinez is likely to slot straight into the starting line-up when the Reds host Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening Premier League weekend.
