Lisandro Martinez set to fly to England to sign five-year contract with Man United

Lisandro Martinez is set to fly to England soon and sign a five-year contract with man United.

Manchester United have Tyrell Malacia signed, sealed and delivered. It looks as though a second Eredivisie player is likely to follow him through the door pretty soon.

The Lisandro Martinez claims have really ramped up over the last 24 hours, with a deal potentially being complete as early as today.

Well, journalist Cesar Luis Merlo has given us another update, sharing some details about Matinez’s proposed United deal.

Apparently, Martinez’s contract is now being prepared, with the player set to fly to England to put pen on paper, signing a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

In terms of transfer fee, Ajax will receive about £47m total, after various add-ons and bonuses, £43m of that will be an upfront cost that United have to pay straight away. The verbal agreement between United and Martinez is now in place – so it feels a case of when rather than if this deal will be fully official.

Martinez has worked in the Erik ten Hag system for the last couple of years, while also being named Ajax’s Player of the Year in the 2021/22 season. The talent and execution is obviously there. Now, it’s just a case of whether he can adapt to the Premier League.

Nobody knows how to get more out of Martinez than Ten Hag, with the player also choosing to reunite with our new Dutch manager instead of moving to Arsenal. That should (hopefully), give Martinez a jumpstart in regards to getting comfortable here in England.

Hopefully, the Argentine international is officially a United player soon, meaning he can link up with his new teammates in Australia to at least get some pre-season minutes under his belt before the serious stuff starts next month.

I’d like to think we won’t be waiting too much longer to see the photo of Martinez holding his new United shirt aloft.
