Well, once again the inevitable has been delayed and Louis van Gaal will not become the Manchester United manager until early next week. It is believed that the club have decided to postpone any announcement due to the fact that Holland play Ecuador in a friendly on Saturday.
The 62-year old manager is believed to be off international duty on Sunday and Monday, before his Holland squad fly out to Portugal to take part in another friendly before the World Cup officially begins. Sky Sports News think that Van Gaal will be in Manchester on Monday to finalise the deal, and meet the media as United boss for the first time.
Once again, United have dragged out the process of bringing in a new face for far longer than they seemed to have needed to, and the deal should have been done by now. Sadly, it looks as though we’re going to be kept waiting for another few days at least.
The deal is expected to be a two year contract, with the option of a third year depending on how successful the side become under the new manager.
