Manchester United’s manager Louis van Gaal has been full of praise for Luke Shaw’s ‘unbelievable’ road to recovery already, after the 20-year old has already returned to Carrington to begin his rehabilitation ahead of a potential return for the European Championships.
Louis van Gaal has hinted that his domestic season is probably over, but he is rated as 50/50 to play for his country next summer.
“Luke is already here, he is already walking with a brace, it is unbelievable.” Louis van Gaal began.
“He is every day here, he has started his rehabilitation already but he has a long way to go. Now his progress is going quickly but at the end we know it will level off and at that point it is difficult to maintain your mentality.
“But for now he is fantastic although we cannot say whether he will be fit for England next summer.
“Like Roy Hodgson says maybe it is 50-50 because it is possible, but it is dependable on the rehabilitation and you can not say it now that he is going.
“Maybe there will be complications later, you never know. That happens a lot so we have to wait and see.”
Sadly it doesn’t look as though the youngster will play for Manchester United again this season, but at least he has a chance at being fit for his country as they head to France for the European Championships.
At the very least it means that Luke Shaw will have plenty of time to get a full pre-season under his belt, and it may be in his long-term interests to concentrate solely on next campaign.
