Louis van Gaal eyes Premier League success

Louis van Gaal, Manchester United manager. Well, that sounds an awful lot better than David Moyes ‘the Chosen One’, doesn’t it? Van Gaal, 62, signed a three-year contract yesterday, and has already set himself a target for the upcoming season; Regain the Premier League title.

Speaking on Dutch TV station RTL, Van Gaal said his first priority is to return United to “number one spot” and fans “will think they are champions of England again within a year”.

“Spain saw me succeed in my first year and in Germany as well. In England, it must also be possible.

“But there can only be one champion.”

Van Gaal has already lifted the spirits of the fans, and no doubt he’ll have had the same effect on the players without even conducting a single training session.

A further quote that’ll endear him to United fans even more suggests that he is willing to give the United youngsters their chance immediately.

“You do not only do it with stars, but also with youth players,” Van Gaal said.

He has this aura around him that all the top managers have, this swagger that suggests he knows just how good he is. Something that ultimately cost David Moyes his job.
