Louis van Gaal gives clearest indication yet that he’s staying on as manager – report

Manchester United Football Club and Louis van Gaal could have just given the clearest indication that the Dutchman will stay on as manager, according to the Daily Telegraph. This is due to the fact that Louis van Gaal backed down from a move for Renato Sanches, they add.

It is thought that the Iron Tulip has vetoed the move as he looks to pursue other transfer targets, due to the extensive asking price from SL Benfica. Bayern Munich ended up paying £27million up front, which could potentially rise to over £63million based on various add-ons and bonuses.

At the end of the day, Sanches was always going to be a huge risk due to his age. At this point in time he is purely talent, but there is no guarantee that he could turn into one of the best players in the world.

In terms of Louis van Gaal staying, it would be nothing short of a disaster. Although the club are still firmly in the hunt to win a trophy this year, the football on display has been nothing-short of turgid and boring. A change is almost certainly needed.
