Louis van Gaal hints defender might be able to play despite suffering injury vs Arsenal

Manchester United secured an absolutely massive result over the weekend, with Louis van Gaal’s youthful side putting Arsenal to the sword. One of the more experienced figures in the line-up was Marcos Rojo, but he limped off midway through the second half with an injury.

Thankfully, the problem doesn’t seem to be too bad as it was just an impact injury, and Louis van Gaal reckons he’ll be fit to play against Watford this evening.

“It was a kick [for Rojo]. A lot of players receive kicks and they can play the next match.” Van Gaal said.

This would be key for Manchester United, as Marcos Rojo offers an outlet both as a centre-back as well as a left-back. This means that Daley Blind and Chris Smalling could be re-united at the heart of defence, allowing Michael Carrick to move forward into his preferred midfield role.

Marcos Rojo was one of the key players for United last term, but injuries have certainly hampered him a fair bit this season, and now its up to him to get back to 100% fitness and keep his place in the team.
