Louis van Gaal insists Man Utd could have fought for title if this didn’t happen

Manchester United were sitting pretty at the Premier League summit in the early parts of the season, but then things started going drastically wrong. Louis van Gaal has had his say on the situation, and he believes the club could have been challenging if it weren’t for injuries.

“When everybody was fit, we were first in the league at that time.” Louis van Gaal began. “Then when we had 14 injuries, or the double injuries on the full-back positions, I could not solve that problem.”

“But still we are here, still we are fighting for the fourth place, also we are in the final of the FA Cup.”

At the end of the day he probably has a point. Injuries have certainly hampered our chances this year, but plenty of the first-team players haven’t been anywhere near good enough over the last few months, and that plays a large part in our failings too.
