Louis van Gaal is ready to sell Juan Mata as Barcelona line up £40m bid

Manchester United are ready to part with record signing Juan Mata, as Barcelona eye up a £40m move for the clever Spaniard – according to Spanish paper AS. Their new boss Luis Enrique is a big fan of Mata, and with Xavi’s Barcelona future in doubt, a huge offer could be coming United’s way.

It is believed that Louis van Gaal will listen to any ‘serious’ offers for Juan Mata, as he prepares a complete overhaul of the Manchester United squad before the new season kicks off in August.

Personally I’d like to see Juan Mata stay, as he has made a huge impression both on and off the pitch since his arrival from Chelsea. He has scored six goals and grabbed six assists in his time at the club so far, and his Monday morning blog is always an excellent and fascinating insight into the mind of a professional footballer – he oozes class.

It would be a shame to see him leave, but maybe Van Gaal cannot find a way to fit him into his preferred 4-3-3 formation, or maybe he just doesn’t like Mata’s style of play. Fingers crossed this is just paper talk though!

  1. he can’t leave surely, but i can see where lvg is going if he definitely wants the 4-3-3, my team would be….
    De Gea
    Valencia
    Hummels
    Garay
    Shaw
    Kroos
    Fabregas
    Carvhalo
    Reus
    Mata
    RVP

  2. Good managers dont pick players like mata, he has no team responsibility, disappears in big games and is just not an athlete. Good player for mid table sides who can afford to carry a player who lewaves you with 10 men when things are tough. In short if we can get our money back for that error lets take it!!
