Louis van Gaal makes bizarre statement following 1-1 draw with Leicester

Manchester United’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season were all-but ended, thanks to a diligent performance from soon-to-be-Champions Leicester City. Louis van Gaal’s men looked great for the first ten minutes, but faded rapidly after that.

However after the game, Louis van Gaal claimed that the 1-1 draw with Leicester was one of United’s best performances of the season – and one that we should have won…

“I think it’s one of our best performances this season, but we didn’t score the winning goal & we were so close, so it’s a big pity.” Louis van Gaal told the BBC.

This seems a bit odd. As soon as Anthony martial scored, the side began to sit back deeper and deeper until Wes Morgan equalised. When the game was 1-1, Leicester looked happy to settle for that and made it tough for United to break through their defence – resulting in one of the most dull games we’ve competed in over recent weeks.

You can understand where Van Gaal’s coming from defensively, as we didn’t really look troubled despite when Leicester tried to counter quickly. However from an attacking point of view we never looked like scoring either, which is obviously a concern going into the final four games of the season.
