Louis van Gaal provides positive injury update on his captain ahead of Everton game

Manchester United’s injury problems are certainly easing up at the moment, and its safe to say that the international break helped with that matter. Louis van Gaal met the media ahead of United welcoming Everton this weekend, and he gave an update on Wayne Rooney’s situation.

“Wayne Rooney is ‘doing great’ and will probably play for the u-21’s before returning to the first team.” Van Gaal began.  “He trained today at a lower level with the ball.”

This is huge news. United’s captain has been missing for around six weeks now due to a knee injury, and to have him back for the run-in is vital, despite the side doing well without him.

The 29-year old is still our leader, and the fact that he is extremely versatile is a massive plus for Louis van Gaal, meaning he can slot in all over the field when called upon.
