Louis van Gaal responds to Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Man Utd rumours

Louis van Gaal’s eyes will solely be focused on Manchester United’s game against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow, and today he met the media to discuss the game. One reporter was brave enough to ask him about the links transfer rumours, namely Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The press wanted to know whether we’d be seeing the PSG man at United next season, and it doesn’t look likely.

“You never know? I cannot say anything about that subject.” Louis van Gaal said. “But he’s already 34 and I have already let go of six or seven players above 33 years old and we need to improve our selection.”

“We still need a much younger selection and I like own youth players already as they already know the culture in Manchester.”

So it looks as though Manchester United won’t be signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic if Louis van Gaal is in charge come next season, and you can understand why.

Despite all his talents, it would be a massive gamble to bring in Ibrahimovic this summer. He’s 34, and he’d command hefty wages so if he picks up one serious injury it could be career over with United left to pick up the pieces.
