Manchester United Football Club are clearly intent on buying new players over the January transfer period, and Louis van Gaal himself has identified one area in which the club are looking to invest in – the left-back slot.
“I was convinced that he would have a very good season. Shaw was the main player for that position is it was a big blow for us.” Louis van Gaal began.
“Maybe we have to buy a left-back in January. His rehabilitation is going well, but the process can now be very slow.
“That’s when you need a very good mental character to continue. I don’t know if he will play again this season because we don’t know if his recovery will continue to be quick and the doctors won’t take any risks, which is good.”
Luke Shaw’s injury was a real shame. The 20-year old made an outstanding start to the season and that came to a dramatic halt when he broke his leg.
At the end of the day football is a business without any time for sentiment, and if United bring someone in to cover for Shaw and that player does well, it could be tough for Shaw to break back into the side upon his return.
