Manchester United fans around the world could’ve just been given the news they didn’t want to hear, as Louis van Gaal has admitted that he doesn’t think we need a striker this summer. The Iron Tulip also added that he’s happy with Wayne Rooney’s performances so far.
“Chicharito is another type from Rooney & Fellaini, who’s another type, then I’ve Wilson & Januzaj, so I don’t think we need a striker.” Van Gaal added: “Rooney has to do what the striker has to do in our system and he does that, so I am very satisfied with him.”
Its disappointing news to be honest. For me Chicharito isn’t good enough to lead the line for a side hoping to challenge for the title, Wayne Rooney has been extremely poor so far this season and James Wilson isn’t ready.
The fact that Louis van Gaal is thinking about utilising Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj up front is worrying in itself, because neither of the pair are out-and-out strikers and would struggle against the best defences in the league.
433 with one striker at the time. We may have enough strikers. Honestly we dont wanna fill up the bench. Van Gaal has faith in Wayne Rooney, and that is important for the player to hear.
