Yesterday Manchester City announced the appointment of former Barcelona player and coach, Josep Guardiola. Now Louis van Gaal has had his say on the situation, and welcomed the Spaniard to England, saying he is very pleased for him.
“He is my former captain so I am very pleased to see him.” Van Gaal said. The Dutchman then joked: “And I can speak Spanish so it is convenient for him.”
The pair spent several years together whilst Van Gaal was manager at FC Barcelona, and they clearly had an excellent relationship off the field. If the Dutchman is somehow still in charge of Manchester United next term, we could well see a much more friendly derby next season.
Manchester United put in a much-improved performance against Stoke City, and the football on display was brilliant. Hopefully Louis van Gaal sticks with this attacking style of play as we get towards the business end of the season, and we could well be lifting a cup come May.
