Manchester United and Louis van Gaal began a major rebuilding job in the summer, as the club splashed out their biggest outgoing transfer fees in a single window in club history. That spree is looking likely to spend, as Van Gaal eyes players in five different positions.
According to the Daily Mail, the Iron Tulip is after a right-back, centre-back, centre-mid, winger and a striker this coming summer, with a whole host of names being linked to Old Trafford.
In terms of right-backs, we’ve been linked to Nathaniel Clyne, Seamus Coleman and Kyle Walker, and it looks as though Rafael’s days are numbered at the club.
Centre-back has to be the number one priority, with United desperately needing an experienced player to come in and command their back four – Mats Hummels would be perfect.
The midfielder we’ll probably end up with is Kevin Strootman, as he and Van Gaal have a strong relationship both on and off the pitch. If it wasn’t for his injury problems he may well have made the move in January.
Our wingers haven’t been featuring much lately, and thats perhaps down to the formation we’re playing. That said, Van Gaal wants another one, and the name of Marco Reus is on everyone’s lips.
Finally United are thought to be after a speedy striker, with Danny Ings being linked within the past week or so due to the fact he is soon to be out of contract.
