Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that Radamel Falcao is currently only fit enough to play twenty minutes of football per game, and he will not be starting against Southampton tonight. Our manager added that it would’ve been better if United didn’t play Stoke on Tuesday, so El Tigre could’ve featured for the reserves and get some match fitness.
Van Gaal said: “It would be a better contribution if he played with the second team but I cannot do that because on Tuesday we had the match against Stoke and Wayne Rooney was injured.”
When asked whether Falcao would be upset with Van Gaal’s decision, the Dutchman replied: “I am not interested in that. He has to follow my philosophy.”
There is no doubt that these are stern words towards Falcao, who has really struggled for fitness since he came into the club over three months ago now. The Columbian needs to start proving his fitness and poring his worth to Manchester United sooner rather than later if he wants to remain a Red Devil beyond this season.
At the end of the day, its not Falcao’s fault, but its certainly his problem. He needs to get fit and quick.
