Real Madrid attacker Lucas Vazquez has told his teammates that he’s joining Manchester United this summer.
That’s what Spanish media outlet Diario Gol are reporting, translated excellently by Tribal Football. Apparently, the Spaniard made a dressing room announcement, in which he simply stated ‘I’m going to United’.
The 26-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring just eight times in 52 appearances across all competitions; most of which have been as a substitute.
United’s attack is extremely top-heavy on the left-hand side, and I wouldn’t be against Jose Mourinho bringing in a right-winger. However, I’d be concerned with the extremely low goal output that Vazquez brings to the table.
Personally, I’d love to see someone with more Premier League experience come in. I look at Chelsea’s Willian or Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez as the ideal candidates. If Vazquez is supposed to be United’s answer, I’d certainly be a tad worried heading into the 2018/19 campaign.
We’re now at that stage where new transfer rumours will be cropping up almost daily. As always, it’s going to be a long summer, but don’t be surprised if Vazquez is a Red Devil come the start of next season…
