Lukaku reports for training early despite uncertainty about Man United future: report

You know what, I’ve never been the biggest Romelu Lukaku supporter, but credit where it’s due, he’s continuing to put the effort in and work hard.

According to the Telegraph, the 26-year-old star has returned to pre-season training early, despite the ‘continuing uncertainty’ around his future.

Apparently, Lukaku wasn’t expected back in training until Wednesday, as he was among a group of players who had been given additional time off following involvement in post-season internationals.

However, United’s #9 reported for training on Monday morning as he looks to ‘hit the ground running’ ahead of the new season.

Inter Milan are hoping to sign Lukaku this summer, while United are braced for an opening offer, the Telegraph state. Although the Serie A giants will need to sell before they can buy, with Mauro Icardi’s head on the chopping block.

The latest we heard that Lukaku actually wants the move to happen, we covered that story from Fabrizio Romano on June 26th.

Credit where it’s due, though, it mustn’t be easy to continue to put the effort in when your future is up in the air, but it feels to me as if Lukaku is ready to spend the season at United should a suitable offer fail to come in.

What’s going to be interesting is when United meet Inter in a pre-season game on July 20th. Perhaps then talks will accelerate as all parties will be in close proximity of each other…
