Lukaku told he can leave, could end up playing against United in pre-season: report

It had all gone rather quiet in terms of Romelu Lukaku’s potential Manchester United departure this summer. Well over the last 24 hours we’ve been given a fresh update.

It comes from the Daily Mirror in an exclusive, who actually state that Lukaku is ‘hoping’ to be an Inter Milan player by the time United meet the Serie A giants in pre-season on July 20th. Meaning Lukaku could actually play against the Reds, all being well (for him anyway)…

According to the report, Inter Milan are set to open the bidding for Lukaku next week, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer telling the 26-year-old that he can leave this summer – but only if the right offer comes United’s way.

Credit to Lukaku. He hasn’t kicked up a fuss nor moaned about the situation. Instead, he has remained the consummate professional – actually returning to training early. Paul Pogba, are you listening…?

Anyway, I think I’m in the majority when I say that I wouldn’t be too fussed either way. If Lukaku stays, United are keeping someone with the right mindset at the club, but if he goes Solskjaer will get a nice boost to the transfer kitty.

If Lukaku has his heart set on playing for Inter when these two sides meet in 11 days time, though, then Antonio Conte’s new team better get a move on…
