Luke Shaw all-smiles with March Player of the Month award

Luke Shaw was named March Player of the Month following some brilliant performances for Manchester United.

I think it’s fair to say that suddenly, Manchester United have the best left-back in the country. Defending with diligence, attacking with real quality, the ex-Southampton man is now starting to show his true ability.

Coming back from that horrific double-leg break was always going to take time. Not only from a healing your body standpoint – but also being mentally prepared to go into those crunching one-on-one tackles again.

I’ll be the first to admit I thought Shaw was finished with United not too long ago. His confidence looked shot under Jose Mourinho and it really looked like there was no way back.

However, he’s proving us all wrong, week-in-week-out. Not only has Shaw been instrumental for the Red Devils, but the left-back has also won his spot back in Gareth Southgate’s England squad. Now, he should be amongst the first names penned in for the European Championships.

Despite being named United’s Player of the Month a few days ago, Shaw finally got his hands on the trophy yesterday, as he made his way back to Manchester following international duty.

What’s crazy is I think there’s potential for Shaw to further improve. He’s still got a couple more gears to go through before we see the finished article. The Englishman is certainly young enough to continue on that upwards trajectory as he’s still only 25, despite the fact that he’s been around forever.

Congratulations, Luke! Onwards and upwards!
