Luke Shaw has agreed a new four-year contract with Man United.
Manchester United Football Club are progressing, both on and off the field, at this moment in time. Credit to Erik ten Hag for that. He hasn’t had it easy, either.
Behind the scenes, the club are intent on continuing to move forward, regardless of their ownership situation. Amongst the main talking points at this time of year is sorting out new contracts for key players.
Marcus Rashford’s new deal is yet to be completed, however, another player has seemingly sorted out his contract situation; Luke Shaw.
According to The Athletic, the 27-year-old United star ‘has agreed’ a new four-year contract amid his great form.
Talks had been taking place behind the scenes, with the new deal undoubtedly a huge plus for both club and player. Shaw can now focus solely on his football, while the Reds have tied down one of their key assets for his peak years.
The Athletic add that Shaw’s new deal is the first piece of ‘squad shaping’ completed by United while bids are in on a potential takeover of the club.
I’m absolutely delighted with this news. Shaw has been brilliant for a few years now, proving himself as one of the best left-backs in the country. He can defend at a high level, while also having the capabilities to get forward and cause problems for opposing defences, too.
This new deal just gives Ten Hag one less position to worry about going into a huge summer transfer window. With both Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, that side of defence is sorted for numerous years – with both players still growing and developing all the time.
