Luke Shaw to miss FA Cup semi-final through injury, Ole confirms

Manchester United Football Club are just ninety minutes away from an FA Cup final. However, they’ll have to do it without one of their key stars. Unfortunately, a Luke Shaw injury rules the left-back out of this one.

The ex-Southampton man had been in impeccable form since the return of football post-lockdown. However, he’d roll his ankle in the game against Crystal Palace.

It seemed like there was a chance he’d play against Crystal Palace on Thursday. Now, though, it looks as if that was just mind-games from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Anyway in his pre-match press conference on Saturday, United were dealt the FA Cup semi-final injury blow, as Solskjaer confirmed that the 25-year-old will miss the game vs Chelsea:

“Luke will be out,” the boss told ManUtd.com. “I can’t see him recovering. Brandon will hopefully be okay, he’ll try to join in training today with his eye. We’ll see if he can see the ball when he comes in! He should be fine.”

In terms of severity, who knows when we’ll see Shaw again? He tends to be amongst the slower players when it comes to recovery, but I’d like to think we’ll see him feature in the Europa League when that resumes in August, at the very latest.

It’s just a shame really as Shaw was playing the best football of his Red Devils career. The Englishman was bombing down the wing, overlapping, solid defensively and really maturing as a footballer. Hopefully, those confidence-levels remain when he returns.

There was better news in regards to Brandon Williams, mind. Although he’s sporting a pretty good black eye, he *should* be fit to play here. Hopefully, he pulls through as I don’t fancy Timothy Fosu-Mensah playing out-of-position against that Chelsea attack.

Get well soon, Luke!
