Luke Shaw was absolutely brilliant in our game vs Liverpool at the weekend. So-much-so he’s been named in WhoScored’s Team of the Week.
In the end, Manchester United would have to settle for a well-earned point. However, the progress is there for all to see. The Red Devils were the team who created the best chances on the day and in the aftermath, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were the ones left disappointed.
I guess that says everything about just how far we’ve come over the last twelve months under the Baby Faced Assassin. That said, a 0-0 at Anfield is always considered a decent result.
Defensively, United were brilliant. Harry Maguire led by example, though it was Luke Shaw who was easily our Man of the Match. Buccaneering runs forward, defensive astuteness and tough in the tackle. Suddenly, Shaw looks like one of the best full-backs in the country – and I say that confidently.
Anyway, for his brilliant performance, Shaw would be the sole United representative in WhoScored’s latest Team of the Week.

It’s just nice seeing Shaw playing football at an elite level. Injuries have undoubtedly hampered his career but it’s easy to forget he’s still only 25 and has plenty of gas left in the tank.
No doubt the addition of Alex Telles has pushed him onto that next level, while credit has to go to Solskjaer for sticking with the Englishman.
I’ll be the first to admit I thought there was no way back for Shaw. Now look at him go. It really is pleasing to see him bossing games from that left-back position.
Well played Luke!
