Man United fans react to top quality performance from Luke Shaw vs Villa

An unreal Luke Shaw performance vs Aston Villa has left Manchester United supporters foaming at the mouth.

This is not a drill. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side sit joint-top of the Premier League table after a 2-1 victory over an excellent Aston Villa.

Dean Smith’s side were brilliant on the night, but Manchester United were just that little bit better when it mattered most. It was an excellent game, with the Red Devils getting it done thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes (obviously).

Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we like to focus on the unsung heroes. Eric Bailly was outstanding. More on him coming later on the site. For now, we’ll concentrate on Luke Shaw.

After overcoming injury after injury, we’re looking at a Shaw who is playing at an incredibly-high level, going toe-to-toe with the best full-backs in England. Last night was more of the same.

Defensively, Shaw didn’t give his man a sniff of an opportunity, while up the other end he’d create just as many chances as Jack Grealish (4). It wasn’t the crosses into the box that had me excited, it was the willingness to bomb forward, time after time, offering himself as an outlet for the likes of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

I guess this is what having proper competition does to anyone. Your natural instinct is to fight that little bit harder when you’re being pushed for your position. Both Solskjaer and Alex Telles deserves huge credit for that.

Anyway, Man United fans rightly took to Twitter by the masses to praise the 25-year-old for his impressive outing last night. Rightly so, too.
