Luke Shaw has made his return to training over the last 24 hours.
Manchester United’s squad has been looking a little thin during the early going of pre-season. Most notably due to several players participating at the international level over the summer.
However, slowly but surely, our regulars are making their return. Yesterday felt like an important day for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the likes of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes were in the mix.
Also amongst them was Luke Shaw, with the key United star making a timely return to training. It comes amid mounting defensive injuries, with Alex Telles out for the season’s start and Aaron Wan-Bissaka emerging as a concern just yesterday.
Shaw, who made it all the way to the EURO 2020 final with England, is amongst the last to return. Understandably, Solskjaer wanted to ensure his starting left-back was given enough time off to rest up, recuperate and recharge the batteries.
However, it was absolutely brilliant to see the best left-back in the country make his return to the training field yesterday. Check out the photo below:
For Shaw, it’s now about putting in the graft and building up those all-important fitness levels. I guess the only downside is that the Englishman will only play one pre-season game this summer, against Everton this weekend.
However, the fact that he played seven games over the summer means it’ll likely take him less time to get back up to full speed.
Simply put, we’re going to need Shaw at his brilliant best if we hold any hopes of challenging for major honours this season. Hopefully, he’s feeling good!
Welcome back, Luke.
