We haven’t seen the left-back since he suffered that ankle problem against Southampton. Now, our worst fears have been confirmed. A Luke Shaw injury will cut his season short. We won’t see now him until 2020/21…
What a difference a year makes, hey? Last summer, there was talk aplenty of Luke Shaw being sold due to poor form. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has kept the faith in the left-back. Post-lockdown, the rewards have certainly been reaped.
It led to the fans begging for Shaw to return from injury after an awful performance against West Ham United. However, he’ll now miss our Europa League campaign.
United were dealt the blow by Solskjaer as he ruled the Reds star out until next season. It’s now down to Brandon Williams and Timothy Fosu-Mensah to play their part in that left-back slot…
“Luke will be out until next season, that’s a blow for him and a blow for us because he’s been fantastic,” Solskjaer told ManUtd.com.
First and foremost, it’s just a massive shame for Shaw. He was playing with a confidence that we haven’t seen for years since that awful double-leg break he suffered against PSV Eindhoven.
Here’s to hoping he doesn’t miss the opening day of 2020/21
Now, it’s about staying mentally tough. It’s a bitter pill to swallow when your season is cut short like that. I just hope that he doesn’t miss the start of the 2020/21 term because there’s very little turnaround after this season. Unless Solskjaer is planning to invest in the left-back slot, we’re definitely going to need Shaw.
Hopefully, he’s got his feet up and his ankle is resting. At least now he has five or six weeks to heal, get the mind right and get ready to go again.
Get well soon, Luke.
